Michigan’s Most Unique Picnic Area
More than Michigan’s most unique picnic area, Bridgeport ‘s Junction Valley Railroad offers safe, family-friendly fun for train enthusiasts, families with young children, people who enjoy outdoor activities, and more.
Plan to spend your next holiday, family vacation, or day getaway at our big beautiful picnic area. Michigan residents and visitors find that our playground, pavilions, and BBQ grills are perfect for all kinds of family gatherings, like birthday parties and reunions. What’s more, the train runs concession cars on the railroad, complete with service from boxcars! On October weekends, you can also enjoy special family-friendly chills and thrills when our Halloween Spook Train takes to the rails!
We’ve built the world’s largest quarter-scale railroad, with the world’s only diamond-crossing trestle. Our amazing rail system features a complete blocking and crossing signal system controlled by over 60 operating track switches. Nine fully-equipped engines power our trains, pulling visitors along over two miles of landscaped track in over 75 different types and sizes of railcars, all built to scale. Trains change direction on a real, operating turntable in our ten-stall roundhouse, built to scale by us from the ground up, along with all the railway’s station buildings and its 16 bridges. Eight hundred and sixty-five feet of trestle and bridge and a 100-foot tunnel connect the upper section of Junction Valley Railroad and the valley section, 22 feet below.
In addition to the railroad and picnic area, Bridgeport and Bay City area model train enthusiasts love our model train hobby shop. We have everything you need to start or complete your train. Convenient to truckers traveling I-75, in Bridgeport, nearby Saginaw and Frankenmuth, Bill’s Junction Garage can professionally service any size truck or trailer.
